This day 4 weeks we’ll be onto Day 2 of Web Summit 2014. Over the next 26 days we will be announcing some more exciting things, including speakers, themes and more. Today we’re happy to share 10 more names – from philosophers, to CTO’s, and everything in between. Lets take a look:
AC Grayling – Philosopher
AC Grayling is Master of the New College of the Humanities. AC has written and edited many books on philosophy and other subjects, his latest being “The Good Book” (2011), “The God Argument” (2013) and “Friendship” (2013). He has many achievements, too many to list, but here’s a sample: World Economic Forum Fellow, Member of its C-100 group on relations between the West and the Islamic world, Trustee of the London Library, Board member of the Society of Authors, Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
In 2003 he was a Man Booker Prize judge, in 2010 was a judge of the Art Fund prize, and in 2011 the Wellcome Book Prize. He is the chairman of the 2014 Man Booker Prize.
Danae Ringelmann – Founder & COO, Indiegogo
Danae is Founder & COO of Indiegogo which was launched in January 2008 and is now the largest global crowdsourcing platform in the world. What that means is that anybody in the world can go on Indiegogo and create a campaign to raise money for whatever their passion is. It’s been acclaimed as a very open, gatekeeper-free system. Here is a great interview Danae did with The Guardian earlier this year.
Bryan Meehan – Executive Chairman, Blue Bottle Coffee
Food, Skincare and now Coffee. Bryan Meehan has mastered some special trades, Bryan previously founded, grew and sold two premium specialty retail chains that share key similarities with Blue Bottle: 1) Fresh & Wild, an organic supermarket chain acquired by Whole Foods in 2004; and 2) Nude Skincare, a luxury natural skincare company acquired by LVMH in 2011.
Eric Wahlforss – CTO & Co-Founder, SoundCloud
Eric loves music – that’s a good start when you are founding a Music based company. Not only does he love music, Eric also has a background as an electronic music artist.Before moving to Berlin and starting SoundCloud he co-founded web consultancy network Strategy & Interaction in Stockholm and co-authored a book on trust in online social spaces. Earlier he worked as an interaction designer for location-based services company gate5. Hadi Partovi – Founder, code.org
Hadi is an entrepreneur and investor, and also co-founder of education non-profit Code.org. As an entrepreneur, he was on the founding teams of Tellme and iLike. As an angel investor and startup advisor, Hadi’s portfolio includes Facebook, Dropbox, airbnb, Zappos, OPOWER, IndieGogo, Bluekai, and many others.
Andrew Backs – Founder, Pilot44
Andrew led Procter & Gamble’s open innovation effort with entrepreneurs and startups in Silicon Valley. He has also spent 9 years at P&G and has marketing, retail, operations, finance, M&A, and extensive business development experience. Andrew is also an entrepreneur. Having founded a company himself, he has a unique focus on bringing innovation to market with some of the brightest minds on the planet.
Jeremy Basset – Marketing Strategy & New Ventures, Unilever
Jeremy joined Unilever Australia in 2003, in 2008 he moved to Singapore where he led the commercial team responsible for Unilever’s €500m Foods business in China, Southeast Asia & Australasia. From Singapore he moved to London in 2011 as Director of Unilever’s New Businesses Unit where he led several start-ups in the UK, India the US, Japan and other parts of Asia. Jeremy also developed and led the Unilever Incubator – Unilever’s platform for engaging entrepreneurs in the challenge of creating the ‘Unilever of the future’.
Guy Wollaert – CTO, Coca Cola
Guy is currently SVP and Chief Technical and Innovation Officer at The Coca-Cola Company, and also the chief architect of Innovation for Coca-Cola, building on the Company’s rich history to design new approaches, work models and mindsets to accelerate new value across the organization. Fascinated by technology and the role it will have in disrupting every industry, he is driving new ways of working, and seeking (seemingly) unlikely partnerships to bring new thinking to the table.
Erik Johnson – Head of Atlas, Facebook
“Today, we are announcing the launch of Atlas. We’ve rebuilt Atlas from the ground up to tackle today’s marketing challenges, like reaching people across devices and bridging the gap between online impressions and offline purchases.” These are the words of Erik Johnson in a blog 2 weeks ago, announcing Facebook’s New Atlas. Interesting times ahead for Erik….
Charles von Abercron – Founder & CEO, Glossybox.de
Charles is the Global CEO & founder of Glossybox. Before launching GLOSSYBOX, Charles worked as an Entrepreneur in Residence at Rocket Internet, the world’s leading Online Venture Builder and Accelerator, and as Vice President of International Online Marketing for Groupon International.
