What’s going on at Web Summit? Here’s the full agenda.
7 days to go, 7 more speakers here, Web Summit has been a year in the making, and we’re nearly ready to do this. Today we’re delighted to reveal 7 incredible names – leaders in their fields – from the screen, to the Octagon, to the field, to the office. These are 7 names you are going to hear more and more from as time goes by. Lets get to know them:
Dana Brunetti – Executive Producer, House of Cards
Dana Brunetti is the president of Trigger Street Productions, a production company founded by Kevin Spacey in 1997. Also an innovator in the realm of social networking, Brunetti launched Trigger Street Labs in 2002, a platform for feedback and exposure for undiscovered writing and filmmaking talent.
Dana was the executive producer of House of Cards – a unique series which was exclusive to Netflix. It has gone on to be hugely successful – with a third season on the way.
In 2009, he produced the film The Social Network, the story of how Facebook was created
Jemima Khan – European editor-at-large, Vanity Fair
Jemima is a writer and campaigner. She is associate editor of the New Statesman and European editor-at-large for Vanity Fair. She executive
produced the 2014 BAFTA nominated documentary ‘We Steal Secrets’ and co-executive produced ‘Unmanned: America’s Drone War,’ a documentary about drones, released last year. She has been an ambassador for UNICEF UK since 2001.
Conor McGregor – Undefeated UFC Fighter
“We’re not here to take part, we’re here to take over”
Conor has taken the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) by storm over the past year and a half – winning 4 from 4, and 3 inside the scheduled distance since joining the promotion as Cage Warriors World Champion. Known as The Notorious, Conor’s win over highly regarded Dustin Poirier in Las Vegas in September announced him as one of the top contenders in the featherweight division.
A superstar across the globe, Conor & SBG have been key to the incredible growth of MMA in Europe. Conor will take to the Sport Summit stage with his teammate, and fellow UFC Star Cathal Pendred (see below).
Rio Ferdinand – BT Sport Ambassador, Football Expert and Programme maker
Rio has captained his country, won everything in the English domestic game, become the world’s most expensive player… twice, but he has never been to Web Summit – that’s all about to change!
In 2002 Rio became the world’s most expensive footballer, joining Manchester United for a fee in the region of £30m. At United Rio has won the Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup & League Cup. He’s currently playing for QPR – and is a BT Sport Ambassador, Football Expert and Programme Maker.
Marcus Weldon – Bell Labs
Marcus Weldon is the 13th President of Bell Labs and the Chief Technology Officer for Alcatel-Lucent.Marcus is considered one of the luminaries in the industry in terms of the clarity, depth and breadth of his vision for the future of networks. He has championed many technological disruptions in telecommunications networks, from the evolution and convergence of networks to ‘all IP’.
Cathal Pendred – Undefeated UFC Fighter
Cathal Pendred has taken to the UFC over the past 4 months – winning both his fights, including Fight of the Night at the Dublin UFC event in July. He followed that up with a victory in Sweden that means he is undefeated in 4 years and 10 fights. Prior to his professional career Pendred took part in Season 19 of the hit reality TV show ‘The Ultimate Fighter’, and before that studied Analytical Science in Dublin City University.
Philipe Senderos – Footballer
Philippe Senderos is a professional footballer plying his trade with Aston Villa in the Barclay’s Premier League and the Swiss National Team. Philippe is a leading investor in SWOL’s Board of Ballers, a group of professional soccer players and celebrity investors who will help launch their new fantasy mobile platform, Fury 90, and lead a mission to use technology as a force for social good in the world’s beautiful game.
He began his career with Arsenal and has had successful stints with AC Milan, Fulham, Everton and Valencia. In addition, Philippe speaks six languages fluently and has competed in the last three World Cups.
