The People’s Stage Final begins!

2 months ago we started an initiative called the People’s Stage – a crowdsourced speakers initiative that gave anyone the chance to speak at the world’s biggest startup conference, regardless of nationality, age, occupation, or any other irrelevant attributes.

It’s an opportunity to speak at the Web Summit purely based on having something interesting to say that other people want to hear.

Over four Round 1 pools, 500 entrants, and 25,000 votes later, we’re down to the final round featuring just under 100 of the top contestants from all over the world. Each of them have a 1 minute video to accompany their entry – ranging from the serious, to the touching, to the just downright hilarious. You can check them out and vote for them here, and the top 50 will get a chance to speak at the Web Summit.

This is just the beginning of a bigger movement towards using the crowdsourcing power of the internet to give people opportunities at our events that might not get a chance otherwise. Stay tuned for more in the coming weeks, months and years. But for now, make sure to cast your vote!
