Taking a minute: What’s going to make Web Summit incredible

Join us at Web Summit.

This morning, we invited Irish media into our new HQ at Tramway House in Dublin to officially unveil Web Summit 2015.

For the last half year or so, we’ve been confirming amazing speakers, hearing how our ALPHA, BETA and START graduates are succeeding, and inviting a wave of disruptive new startups to Dublin.

We’ve been flat out working on Web Summit 2015 – today gave us the chance to take a minute to think about how great it’s going to be:

The man who got us swiping

That’s Tinder Co-Founder Sean Rad, who’ll be telling us the story behind one of the world’s most popular dating apps.

He’s going to be joined by Edwin van der Sar (below), the former Manchester United goalkeeper who helped his club win the 2008 Champions League with this shootout save.

Besides Sean and Edwin, we’ve got The Da Vinci Code author Dan Brown, Instagram Co-Founder Mike Krieger and Tour de France Winner Chris Froome all touching down in Dublin.

21 standalone summits

Best-selling authors and international sport starts at a tech conference? Because tech is impacting on just about every industry and all strands of society.

We’ve always been proud of the diversity of our speakers – this year we decided to take things a touch further.

This year, Web Summit will comprise 21 standalone summits, each one hitting a different industry from fashion to healthtech; from content to data.

The best things in life are free

We’re dropping 7,000 free tickets to secondary and third-level students for our student and career events.

The tickets will be divided evenly among students of both levels, and is an expansion of a similar scheme we ran last year.

The way we see it, a lot of the leaders of today are going to be at the Web Summit – we need to inspire them.

Away from the hype, here are some figures:

  • Nearly 30,000 attendees.
  • 650+ speakers.
  • 2,000+ startups.
  • 1,000+ investors.
  • 100+ pub crawl routes.
