With Web Summit only three weeks away, we’ve thought we’d give startups the low-down on what to expect. This event guide does exactly that, so read on…
PITCH Presented by Audi
Two hundred of the most impressive and promising startups have been chosen from over 1,300 applications.
The startups will battle it out across three days and four stages. PITCH is divided into two distinct tracks: ALPHA for those with less than $500,000 raised and BETA for those with between $500,000 and $3 million raised.
The Group Stage takes place on Tuesday, November 3 and the morning of Wednesday, November 4, with the companies pitching across three PITCH Stages. 20 ALPHA Companies and 20 BETA Companies will qualify for the semi-finals that take place on the afternoon of Wednesday, November 4.
Six companies will go through to the final – three from ALPHA and three from BETA – where an ALPHA Winner and BETA winner will be chosen.
The Breakthrough Stage will feature some of our top exhibiting startups speaking on a range of fascinating topics. There will be keynote addresses, firesides, and panel discussions that focus on how the startups are innovating in their industry, how they’ve gotten to where they are today and what they’ve learned along the way. We will be hearing from some of the fastest growing startups in the world, companies such as Algolia, Trello, Branchmetrics and Adstage, to name a few.
More than 100 funds will be taking part in Office Hours this year, the pre-scheduled meetings between investors and startups. Each fund meets with between 10-12 startups and meetings are 15 minutes each.
We work with some of the world’s leading funds, provide them with a database of all startups, they search by investment focus, select startups of interest, and we look after the rest.
Mentor Hours will see speakers, investors, and members of the media sharing one-on-one advice to startups on the various aspects of starting and running a business. Mentors will donate an hour of their time, during which they will hold four 15-minute meetings with different startups. Ten meetings will take place at any one time. This year, Web Summit will host 600 meetings over the three-day conference.
Applications for our legendary pub crawls are closing soon, so make sure you sign up. It’s a networking opportunity like no other with 5000 business leaders and tech enthusiasts chatting in Dublin’s best pubs. The first Night Summit event will kick off on the November 2.
