As 2015 draws to a close, here at Web Summit HQ we’ve been reflecting on the year that’s gone by. We’ve been doing that by getting in touch with few of the incredible startups that exhibited at Web Summit.

Here are three more startup stories from this year:

Dibya, co-founder of Pepipost, recalled the adventures of the Pepipost mascot at Web Summit:

“Web Summit was a big win for us at Pepipost. We got more than 200 international clients and a few partners, which is now helping us grow our business globally.

“To represent our individuality, we had our mascot publicise Pepipost. Our mascot was a hit with the audience. It was one of our main attractions that pulled our audience towards us.

“Numerous well-known personalities visited our booth, including the former Apple CEO John Sculley and the Zeta Interactive CEO David Steinberg. Both were sold on the idea that we were selling.

“Pepipost’s booth was also visited by some of the famous Irish government agencies: the IDA and Enterprise Ireland. Both of them highly appreciated the product and invited us for one-to-one meetings.

“We are now all set and ready to participate in SURGE, Bengaluru next year.”

Ricardo from LeanXcale networked with investors and potential partners alike at the event:

“This edition of the Web Summit was just great for LeanXcale. We got appointments with investors who then introduced us to some big clients and potential partners, such as Microsoft Ventures and Santander Innovation Unit.

“On the exhibition side, we had a continuous flow of relevant visitors, some of them potential customers and partners. Many others were simply interested in knowing more about LeanXcale.”

Sam from Jumparound remembers the connection he and his kangaroo made…

“Seeing all those people at Web Summit talking about innovative ideas, discussing revenue models, switching contacts, drinking Guinness, shaking hands… That was impressive. For us, that’s what Web Summit is all about.

“On the first day, we released our kangaroo mascot and let him jump around. We have to be honest: thanks to him, we got to know a lot of people!

“Over the course of Web Summit we met with representatives from the likes of Cisco, Oracle, Lamborghini Auto, Google and Cox & Kings.

“The feedback we received at our booth was amazing. People engaged with our apps so well and most of them were eager to become our beta-testers.

“We look forward to Lisbon!”

So do we Sam!
