Developments in technology are disrupting more than just business, but also music, politics, fashion, sport and more. Jamie Heaslip has been confirmed as a speaker for the Web Summit, where he’ll be heading up the discussion on sports technology.

At this year’s Web Summit, a selection of speakers will be exploring the impact of technology on a wider and more varied scale. Shakil Khan of Spotify and Eric Wahlforss of Soundcloud will be initiating a more music-centred discussion, while Dylan Richard (Director for Engineering at Obama 4 America) will bring perspectives from the political sphere and Jennifer Hyman (CEO and Co-founder at Rent the Runway) will focus on the fashion industry.

This week, we’ve added Jamie Heaslip – Irish rugby captain and Leinster rugby player – to the Web Summit speakers’ line-up. Jamie’s discussion will touch on how developments in technology are affecting the professional sports industry, including the Leinster and Irish rugby team’s use of wearable and monitoring tech. Jamie is has also become increasingly involved in business and tech ventures, most famously the Bear restaurant in Dublin, as well as being actively involved in several charities both at home and abroad. He is a dedicated patron of GOAL, The Umbrella Foundation and the ISPCC as well as making the annual sacrifice of partaking in Movember; the male prostrate cancer awareness campaign.
