Maelle Gavet – one of the world’s most powerful women is coming to Web Summit

The world’s most inspiring and influential speakers will be onstage at Web Summit – make sure you are there to see it all

Only in her mid-thirties and already in charge of one of the biggest companies in Russia, Maelle Gavet is a seriously impressive global business presence, and we are very happy to welcome her to Web Summit 2014.

After cutting her business teeth while working all across the world with the renowned Boston Consulting Group, Gavet is now CEO at Russian e-commerce behemoth OZON Holdings. After initially joining the company in 2009 as Sales and Marketing Director, Gavet made her way to the helm of the organisation within two years, and she has already made a massively positive impact.

Annual revenue was doubled within her first 12 months in charge, and she has since led the organisation through two record-breaking rounds of funding that total a staggering $250 million.

In 2012, Gavet orchestrated OZON’s buyout of, one of many acquisition deals that have been signed since her tenure as CEO began.  This means Gavet now oversees a whole portfolio of entities under the OZON banner, including, OZON Travel, O’Courier, and OZON Solutions.

As if that wasn’t enough, she is building her own private shipping company in an attempt to reinvigorate the Russian e-commerce industry, and earlier this year Gavet led OZON in purchasing a substantial stake in, Russia’s leading eBook distribution platform.

When not sitting on the Board of Directors at Edenred, publishing articles in the Harvard Business Review, or speaking one of three languages fluently, Gavet’s name pops up in some of the world’s most influential publications: in 2012, Forbes ranked her as one of the world’s most powerful women, while she also took 10th place in Fast Company’s list of the 100 most creative people in business. She was included in Fortune’s prestigious 40 under 40 list and, more recently, she was ranked fifth in a Times Magazine list of the world’s top female entrepreneurs.

We’re delighted that she will also feature in our list of speakers, and she will be joined by three other world-class names being announced today.
