Enterprise Summit – 30 Speakers taking to the stage

The tech world descends on Dublin for Web Summit 2014 – will you be there to hear the brightest minds in the industry speak?

This year, Web Summit becomes extra special with your ticket giving you access to four separate summits – Builders, Marketing, Enterprise and Machine. As you might expect, all four summits, as well as all our other satellite events, have a stellar line-up of speakers, and Enterprise Summit is no exception. With over 100 new speakers being announced across the four summits this week, here is our rundown of some of the big names to look out for on the Enterprise stage.

John Foreman – MailChimp Chief Data Scientist

John is the Chief Data Scientist for MailChimp.com. He’s also a former management consultant who’s done a lot of analytics work for large businesses (Coke, Royal Caribbean, Intercontinental Hotels) and the government. These days John does all sorts of data science for MailChimp, and blogs for fun about analytics through narrative fiction at Analytics Made Skeezy. John’s book on data science, Data Smart: Using Data Science to Transform Information into Insight, is now out from Wiley.

Melody Hildebrandt – Palantir Global Head of Cyber Security

Based in New York City, Melody Hildebrandt leads Palantir’s cyber security work with some of the world’s largest financial institutions and auditing firms. Prior to Palantir, Hildebrandt was a senior consultant with Booz Allen Hamilton, designing cyber and strategy war games and simulations for the Singaporean and US governments, including the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, and intelligence community. She founded and wrote for TransCapitalist, a blog that explored the intersection of technology and free markets.

Adrian Cockcroft – Battery Ventures Tech Specialist

As Tech Specialist at Battery Ventures, Adrian advises the firm and its portfolio companies about technology issues and also assists with deal sourcing and due diligence. Before joining Battery, Adrian helped lead Netflix’s migration to a large scale, highly available public-cloud architecture and the open sourcing of the cloud-native NetflixOSS platform. Prior to that at Netflix, he managed a team working on personalization algorithms and service-oriented refactoring. Adrian was a founding member of eBay Research Labs, developing advanced mobile applications and even building his own homebrew phone, years before iPhone and Android launched. As a distinguished engineer at Sun Microsystems he wrote the best-selling “Sun Performance and Tuning” book and was chief architect for High Performance Technical Computing.

Yuvan Ben-Itzhak – AVG CTO

Yuval has served as CTO at AVG since 2010 and is responsible for the strategic and technical development of the AVG product line, as well as for developing key partnerships within the industry and identifying technologies offering potential for acquisition. He also served as AVG senior vice president, engineering from 2009 to 2010. Prior to joining AVG, Yuvan was chief technology officer of Finjan Software, Ltd. a web security company. Before that, Yuvan was chief technology officer of KaVaDo Inc., a web application security company he founded in 2000 (which was later acquired by Protegrity Corporation). He was also previously chief technology officer at Ness Technologies, a provider of end-to-end IT solutions and services.

Stefan Weitz – Bing Senior Director

Stefan Weitz is a Director of Search at Bing (Microsoft) and is charged with working with people and organizations across the industry to promote and improve Search technologies. While focused on Microsoft’s product line, he works across the industry to understand searcher behavior and, in his role as an evangelist for Search, he gathers and synthesises feedback to drive product improvements. Prior to Search, Stefan led the strategy to develop the next generation MSN portal platform and developed Microsoft’s muni WiFi strategy, leading the charge to blanket WiFi across metropolitan cities. A 12-year Microsoft veteran, he has worked in various groups including Windows Server, Security, and IT.

Jim Franklin – SendGrid CEO

Prior to his tenure with SendGrid,  a Foundry-backed infrastructure applications company, Jim was the Vice President of Enterprise Performance Management and the General Manager of the Crystal Ball Global Business Unit of Oracle Corporation. The Crystal Ball Global Business Unit was formed in 2007 as a part of the acquisition of Hyperion Solutions. At Hyperion, Jim served as VP and General Manager. Jim had held the roles of Decisioneering’s CEO, CFO and VP of Sales prior to Decisioneering’s acquisition by Hyperion. Decisioneering was the maker of the Crystal Ball brand of software. Mr. Franklin was also the founder of webfamilies.com and the CFO of Vericept Corporation. Jim serves on the board of aWhere, Inc., Denver Software Club, Cloud Elements, Tap Influence and SlamData. Jim has also been a mentor for Techstars and the Founder Institute.

Oren Michels – Mashery CEO

Mashery’s co-founder and CEO has a record of success in a variety of executive positions spanning multiple industries. Oren co-founded and managed WiFinder, an international provider of directory services for public access wi-fi hotspots. He has served as president for two companies: Colt HR, a leading provider of mid-market benefits administration software and services; and Winebid.com, a leading online wine auction service. He also served as president and CEO of The Groundlings, a Hollywood-based entertainment production company, and has held COO positions at manufacturing companies. Prior to joining Mashery, Oren worked as vice president of business development at Feedster, where he managed the company’s activities in China and negotiated partnerships with AOL, Real Networks, and Mitsui. Oren began his career as a software designer for Hughes Aircraft.
