Sport Summit is back at Web Summit in 2015. Want to be there?
It’s back! After a hugely successful first year in 2014, Sport Summit is coming back to Web Summit 2015. It will run for 2 of the 3 days of Web Summit, exact dates being November 3 & 4, and will take place in the main Web Summit campus in the RDS.
This will be the premier sporting meeting place in Europe in 2015 – with names like Chris Froome, Edwin van der Sar, being joined by brands like HBO Sports & the Miami Dolphins to discuss the most interesting, important and insightful topics in sport today.
This morning we’re delighted to announce the first of our 75 speakers – including a Tour de France winner, Olympic medalists, CEO’s, founders & more. Let’s take a look:
Chris Froome – Tour de France 2013 Winner
We’re delighted to have one of the world’s most successful cyclists joining us at Sport Summit in November. Chris Froome races for Team GB and Team Sky & in 2013 reached the pinnacle of cycling by winning the Tour de France, amassing five stage-race victories along the way. In 2012 he was runner-up in the Tour de France, and also won the bronze medal in the Time Trial at the Olympic Games.
Chris won the prestigious Velo d’Or Award for best rider of 2013 and was shortlisted for the 2013 BBC Sports Personality of the Year Award.
Going in to the 2015 season Chris is amongst the favourites to win the Tour de France.
Edwin van der Sar – Marketing Manager at Ajax
Van Der Sar represented Ajax, Juventus, Fulham & Manchester United – winning 8 league titles, 2 Champions Leagues, a Uefa Cup & numerous domestic competitions along the way.
Not only a club legend, Van der Sar also played 130 times for his native Holland – including 2 World Cup competitions, and 4 European Championships.
He is now the Marketing Manager of Ajax.
Matt Higgins – CEO of RSE Ventures & Vice Chairman of Miami Dolphins
Matt is the President & CEO of RSE Ventures, as well as Vice Chairman of the Miami Dolphins American Football Franchise. Matt co-founded RSE in 2012 – the company focuses on sports, entertainment and technology, and has invested in various technologies including FanVision, Thuzio & Poptip.
Cindy Cone – CEO of ImVere & ex-US Soccer International
Cindy is the CEO of ImVere & played on the USA Women’s National Soccer Team, amassing 75 goals, 35 assists, two Olympic gold and one silver medal, and one World Cup Championship in just 158 caps. Cindy’s international playing career was cut short at the age of 25, when she was 5th all-time leading scorer, due to post-concussion syndrome.
Due to her lingering issues with concussion and the fact that girls soccer is the second leading sport in concussion incidence (second only to football), Cindy has become a passionate advocate for solving sports’ concussion crisis.

Elizabeth Parkinson – SVP of Marketing at The Detroit Lions
Peter Nelson – VP of Programming at HBO Sports
