It’s been a crazy last 6 months, lots of fun, announcements, speakers and surprises. With more to come over the next 10 days lets take a look back on some of the things we have announced over the last 6 months:
We’re ringing in Web Summit 2014 with the return of the Nasdaq Bell on Tuesday, November 4th in the RDS.
Some really incredible secondary schools students will be coming to the event after entering these videos to the Hatch backed by AIB competition.
King came on board to help us choose the best mascot for Web Summit. Our 5 finalists battled it out on Facebook walls around the world, with WeBot & Maggie Tan coming out on top by a very small margin.
Makers & doers are coming together in Dublin from November 1st-3rd for a Hardware Hackathon which will kick of Web Summit week.
Ryder Cup winning captain Paul McGinley, the greatest Skateboarder ever Tony Hawk & one of the world’s most famous Football Scouts/Directors Damien Comolli were all announced as speakers for our Sport Stage.
We were delighted to team up with the great people of Good Food Ireland to build on the momentum of Food Summit 2013, and make Food Summit 2014 the most incredible food gathering the country has ever seen.
4 weeks out from the event we were delighted to add another 200 speakers to our speakers list, including Justin Kan, Julia Hartz and Man vs Food’s Adam Richman. This brought our total number of confirmed speakers to 500.
This year we’re celebrating the Internet of Everything at Web Summit, and nothing signalled that more then the announcement of world renowned Philosopher AC Grayling as a speaker. We also had some other cool speakers including big players in Coca-Cola, Facebook, Indiegogo, Code.org & Soundcloud.
The PITCH shortlist revealed the 200 companies pitching their ideas at Web Summit.
Intel, Dropbox & Audi were all included in our list of 2,087 exhibitors.
We revealed our new Web Summit for Schools initiative which will give 3,000 secondary school students a unique Web Summit experience on the evening on November 4th
To start October and pre-Web Summit month it was great to announce Maelle Gavet, one of the world’s most powerful women, as a Web Summit speaker.

Fringe Summit – in the creative heart of the city. We’ve opened up Web Summit content to the city & people of Dublin.
Investors are a key part of the event, and we were delighted to announce 250 that are coming to join us in Dublin from all corners of the globe.
And not just that…. we also announced 250 journalists flying in for Web Summit.
Pub Crawls are back for 2014! One of the best parts of Web Summit last year is coming back, and we were delighted to invite all our attendees to get involved.
Our Irish startups pitching competition Spark of Genius took place in the NDRC in Dublin, and the standard was incredible. From 30, 3 were chosen to move on to the Spark of Genius Final at Web Summit. Here’s how the evening unfolded.
