It’s been a crazy last 6 months, lots of fun, announcements, speakers and surprises. With more to come over the next 10 days lets take a look back on some of the things we have announced over the last 6 months:

We’re ringing in Web Summit 2014 with the return of the Nasdaq Bell on Tuesday, November 4th in the RDS.

Some really incredible secondary schools students will be coming to the event after entering these videos to the Hatch backed by AIB competition.

King came on board to help us choose the best mascot for Web Summit. Our 5 finalists battled it out on Facebook walls around the world, with WeBot & Maggie Tan coming out on top by a very small margin.

Makers & doers are coming together in Dublin from November 1st-3rd for a Hardware Hackathon which will kick of Web Summit week.

Nasdaq 11

Ryder Cup winning captain Paul McGinley, the greatest Skateboarder ever Tony Hawk & one of the world’s most famous Football Scouts/Directors Damien Comolli were all announced as speakers for our Sport Stage.

We were delighted to team up with the great people of Good Food Ireland to build on the momentum of Food Summit 2013, and make Food Summit 2014 the most incredible food gathering the country has ever seen.

4 weeks out from the event we were delighted to add another 200 speakers to our speakers list, including Justin Kan, Julia Hartz and Man vs Food’s Adam Richman. This brought our total number of confirmed speakers to 500.

This year we’re celebrating the Internet of Everything at Web Summit, and nothing signalled that more then the announcement of world renowned Philosopher AC Grayling as a speaker. We also had some other cool speakers including big players in Coca-Cola, Facebook, Indiegogo, Code.org & Soundcloud.

The PITCH shortlist revealed the 200 companies pitching their ideas at Web Summit.

Intel, Dropbox & Audi were all included in our list of 2,087 exhibitors.

We revealed our new Web Summit for Schools initiative which will give 3,000 secondary school students a unique Web Summit experience on the evening on November 4th

To start October and pre-Web Summit month it was great to announce Maelle Gavet, one of the world’s most powerful women, as a Web Summit speaker.

Some big names from Twitter, Unilever, BSkyB & Red Bull came on board as Web Summit speakers,

Fringe Summit – in the creative heart of the city. We’ve opened up Web Summit content to the city & people of Dublin.

Investors are a key part of the event, and we were delighted to announce 250 that are coming to join us in Dublin from all corners of the globe.

And not just that…. we also announced 250 journalists flying in for Web Summit.

Pub Crawls are back for 2014! One of the best parts of Web Summit last year is coming back, and we were delighted to invite all our attendees to get involved.

Our Irish startups pitching competition Spark of Genius took place in the NDRC in Dublin, and the standard was incredible. From 30, 3 were chosen to move on to the Spark of Genius Final at Web Summit. Here’s how the evening unfolded.

CNBC, The Guardian & Independent.ie came on board as 3 of our media partners for 2014.

And the Internet of Everything at Web Summit was born with the announcement of content for our new Film, Sport, Food & Music Summits.

In September we had our biggest speaker announcement to date with Hollywood actress Eva Longoria, Zynga CEO Mark Pincus & Founder, Model and actress Lily Cole all announced as speakers for Web Summit.

Student Summit scoured the globe for 200 of the best Undergrad and MBA students to join us at Web Summit. Here & here are a taster of some of our successful applicants.

Early September, and no better time to announce The 3.2 Billion Dollar man, Tony Fadell, as the latest Web Summit speaker.

Things were moving fast inside Web Summit – and there was lots of excitement about these 3 new hires.

Volunteers play a huge role in the running of Web Summit on event days, and this year interest in Volunteering has been amazing. On August 27th we made the final push to cross the 3,000 volunteer mark, a mark we crossed a few hours after this blog!

We teamed up with Coca-Cola to make PITCH the best startup pitching competition in the world.

Bringing together investors, to meet, learn and network with each other. It’s the Investor Summit – and this is what will happen.

Big names from Nike, Business Insider and The Huffington Post were all included in the latest Digital Marketing Speakers announcement.

90 Jolly Good Kauffman Fellows signed up for Web Summit – to learn and meet the companies that will define the future.

Here was a chance to announce a great speaker, and use an incredibly cheesy headline in the process – Houston we have a speaker.

Facebook’s first investor, and founder of PayPal – Peter Thiel was one of the first to join our speakers line-up in June.

We announced that The Oculus is coming to Dublin, and will be joined by Stripe’s John Collison & Robert Scoble.

Max Levchin, Joe Lonsdale & Kevin Rose were announced as our first Web Summit speakers – an honour and a privilege to have them.

In April we set out our stall for the next 7 months – and what a ride it has been so far.
