Katherine Hague – Shoplocket CEO
Katherine launched ShopLocket in May 2012 and raised a $1 million seed round last summer led by Peter Thiel’s Valar Ventures and Rho Canada. Shoplocket now provides thousands of hardware and product entrepreneurs a simpler solution for selling online. The company provides resources to the hardware community through its interview series and Crowdfunding Guide.
Hugo Fiennes – Electric Imp Associate
Hugo Fiennes has an incredible story. Prior to co-founding Electric Imp, Hugo led Apple’s hardware team through the first four generations of the groundbreaking Apple iPhone. And even earlier than that Hugo founded empeg, creator of the first in-car MP3 digital audio-player, before working on many more MP3 players before his move to Apple then Electric Imp.
Robert Brunner – Ammunition Founder
A former Apple designer, Robert played an integral part in the design on the original Powerbook. After leaving Apple Robert went on to found Design Firm, Ammunition. This excellent USA Today profile details how Robert has influenced how a new generation looks at headphones.
Massimo Banzi – Arduino Co-Founder
Easy-to-use technology for designers, hobbyists and artists, Arduino is a platform co-founded by Massimo, aiming to improve open-source electronics. Massimo has worked as a consultant for clients such as: Prada, Artemide, Persol, Whirlpool, V&A Museum and Adidas. Check out his website for a cocktail of intrigue and humour. Massimo is also the author of “Getting Started with Arduino” published by O’Reilly. He is a regular contributor to the italian edition of Wired Magazine and Che Futuro, an online magazine about innovation.
Stephen Lake – Thalmic Labs Co-founder
Named as one of Canada’s Top 20 Under 20 in 2007, Stephen hasn’t looked back since, again being recognised for his work by being named one of the Next 36 entrepreneurial leaders in Canada in 2011. Stephen used his extensive study of hardware during his time at the University of Waterloo to build Thalmic into an exciting and innovative IoT company.
