Speech, shipping and subscriptions: 18 software startups joining START

The most important gathering of startups on the planet. Bring yours.

Our START programme showcases the world’s highest-potential startups. These are the guys we think can emulate the success of previous START participants like Nest and Storyful.

Let’s take a look at 18 software START startups on their way to Dublin:

His company won our PITCH competition in the BETA category – an award Jaime called the “Oscars” of European startups.

Codacy is an automated code review tool that helps developers optimise their workflow and work more efficiently – to ship better software faster.

Since winning PITCH, Jaime says Codacy has grown “ridiculously“. They now return to Web Summit as a START startup with thousands of users in almost 2,000 cities worldwide.

Speechmatics is another alumnus of our PITCH competition. That’s CEO Benedikt von Thüngen pitching at our US event Collision where Speechmatics were runners up in PITCH.

Speechmatics say they’ve developed the world’s most accurate speech recognition software. Their cloud-based service converts audio to text using a simple pay-as-you-go system.

The guys at Kontainers reckon shipping is outdated. They’re pushing this trillion dollar industry online.

Founded by Charles Lee and Graham Parker in August 2014, Kontainers’ platform makes it easier and more transparent to ship containers worldwide, providing all costs and schedules upfront.

Chargebee joined us in Hong Kong for RISE this July. Now they’re making their Web Summit debut.

Chargebee help startups manage their subscription payments: “With a simple integration, startups get to deliver great billing experience without spending any mindshare,” says C0-founder and CEO Krish Subramanian.

They’ve recently announced a $5 million Series B.
