From a 1 Metre Startup Booth at Web Summit to $1 Billion in 9 Months

40 startups that exhibited at Web Summit 2014 have raised over $1 billion in funding in less than a year.

 
$1,015,800,000 to be exact.

So just 9 months since pitching tent in Dublin’s RDS, these early-stage startups have hit this incredible figure.

Having individually raised funds ranging from $2.6 million to $275 million, a number of our class are returning to Dublin for 2015, this time as speakers.

FanDuel

Nigel Eccles, CEO of FanDuel, a US-based startup specialising in one-day fantasy sports leagues is one of them. FanDuel has flourished in the US, with their Twitter account regularly announcing bumper wins reaching as far as $2 million.

Since exhibiting at Web Summit, they have attracted $275 million in private equity and industry investors, raising the company’s valuation to $1.3 billion. Don’t miss Nigel at Sport Summit.

Silent Circle

Another class of 2014 member, Silent Circle, has raised $50 million since their Web Summit appearance. The Geneva-based company that works to protect privacy between employees, customers and partners has announced a partnership with British media heavyweights, The Guardian. Distil Networks

Since their Web Summit 2014 outing, Distil Networks – a US cybersecurity firm – has raised a $21 million in funding, led by Bessemer Venture Partners. So who’s speaking at Web Summit? CEO Rami Essaid.
